[Watchmaking] EP.0 Why did I start to make my own watch dial

If you love watches, you can probably relate that someday you want to have your own watch.

The easiest approach is to mod an existing watch, especially the Seiko SKX007 and SKX013 models, for which there are many compatible parts available. I enjoyed modding my Seiko SKX013 model by replacing the bezel and bezel insert.

After that, I started buying parts individually to build the watch. Unlike modding, which involves changing only a few parts of an completed watch, it's a bit more challenging because you have to consider the compatibility of the all parts.

However, building a watch with ready-made parts was not enough to fulfill my desire to have my own watch.

So, I decided to make my own watch dial.

Creating a watch dial from scratch as hobbyist wasn't easy. There was no information on the Internet about how to make them at home in small batches, so I tried a variety of craft resources, and after a lot of trial and error, I was able to make a watch dial that I can be satisfied with.

I hadn't planned on blogging about how I made the dials because it's a homemade recipe that I developed rather than an authentic, traditional method, but after losing a lot of data in a recent hard drive failure, I changed my mind and decided to share it on the Internet.

I hope that many watch enthusiasts will find my blog and that it will help them to take on another creative challenge.
